Welcome Jim Haverstrom – Cool Sports NEW Hockey Director

Cool Sports would like to officially announce that Jim Haverstrom is the new hockey director for Cool Sports.

Jim has been involved with youth sports for 20+ years starting as coach on his son’s hockey team and for the last 18 years as Hockey Director for some of the countries most succesful hockey programs. From 2000-2010 Jim was Hockey Director at the RDV Sportsplex in Orlando FL where he was in charge of all aspects of the youth and adult programs. While there Jim started the OYHA travel hockey program which has sent several teams to the USA Hockey National tournament and produced numerous NCAA D1 and D3 players along with 2 players who debuted in the NHL.

Following his tenure at RDV Jim became the Hockey Director for the Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Assocation, an organization of 750 players ranging from 5 year old beginners to 18UAAA. During his time there he worked hand in hand with the USA Hockey National Office staff to implement the newest and best training techniques for both players and coaches. Jim left Colorado to become the Hockey Director for the Panthers Ice Den, the official training facility for the NHL FL Panthers, where he ran the recreational youth and adult programs along with the nationally recognized JR Panthers travel program. Jim relocated to Texas to become Hockey Director for Hockey Club Dallas and was coaching and running skills clinics for the Texas Warriors.

Along with his Hockey Director and coaching positions Jim has been very involved with USA Hockey on both the national and local level. Jim was the USA Hockey ACE Coordinator for the Southeastern District where he was responsible for the continuing coaching education for USA Hockey certified coaches. On the local level, Jim was the Coaching Coordinator and VP of SAHOF, the FL USA Hockey Affiliate. For over 10 years Jim has been an USA Hockey CEP Instructor running coaching certification classes around the country. And Jim is a certified trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance, so he will bring workshops for coaches of all sports to Cool Sports on the benefits and techniques of Positive Coaching.

We are excited to have Jim joining our staff here at Cool Sports. Jim’s first day will be Monday, July 23.
