KNOXVILLE JR ICE BEARS SELECT PROGRAM COACHING STAFF
Jamie Ronayne leads our mite select program bolstered by 30 + years of hockey experience. His collegiate hockey career with the Buffalo State Bengals earned him the honor of being inducted into the Buf State Hall of Fame.
From there, Ronayne’s career took him all over the United States professionally with stops in Tulsa, New Haven, El Paso, San Angelo, Birmingham and finally Knoxville of the SPHL where he led the Ice Bears to their first every professional championship in Knoxville hockey history.
Jamie has been a youth coach since 2008 and is also a member of the KAHA board as the organization’s “ACE Coordinator” responsible for coach training, education and certification.
Coach Farmer brings a wealth of hockey passion and experience to our coaching staff for the 2019-2020 season from 35 + years of coaching youth sports that included hockey, baseball and girls fast pitch softball. After a collegiate and minor pro baseball career, Coach Steve settled down with his wife Penny and 37 years of marriage later they have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Known at the rink for his booming voice and enthusiastic antics during practice, Steve is an expert motivator and thrives in the younger age groups as he has been a constant in the mite program for the past 4 years.
Coach Dan Cox honed his hockey skills in Robbinsville,NJ during a very successful high school career that vaulted him into collegiate hockey as a member of the Millersville University Marauders hockey club. Dan played 2 seasons in the ACHA’s Division 2 conference before making his way to the University of Tennessee and joining the Ice Vols in the ACHA for 2 more seasons. Dan has been on skates since he was a young boy and can’t wait to pass on his knowledge and love for the game to our Squirt Select group this season.

Coach Ian Wilson
Coach Ian is from Massena, NY and has been around a rink since birth. He began playing hockey at the age of 4 and played on teams of various skill levels, from house C league to travel A league. He holds a NY State hockey title as well as a National Championship in the 14U division. He also spent his Springs playing AA and AAA hockey in Ottawa, ON. Ian went on to play High School hockey in Massena, the winningest high school hockey program in NYS history and earned 3 Sectional titles,1 regional title, and 1 Final Four appearance. After graduating, Ian attended Clarkson University where he earned a degree in Communications and was a member of the Division 1 Club hockey team. He has since relocated to Knoxville and works at a marketing firm. He has assisted in many youth hockey camps and in minor hockey player development, and this will be his first year as a head coach. He is excited to share his experience and knowledge of the game with Knoxville’s hockey community and the Pee Wee Select team will be direct benefactors his passion for the sport.

Coach Craig Bates
Coach Bates has been a Knoxville hockey mainstay since his days behind the bench of the UT Ice Vols from 199-2003. His enthusiasm, passionate teaching of the game and love for watching kids develop has come to be expected at the rink and his impact on countless youth players in the past decade has been immeasurable. He is tasked with being the head coach of our newly formed “High School Select All Star” program this season and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for this group.
